Duramax ticking noise.

When the engine is fired up cold it sounds perfect, but once it gets to about 140-150 the noise starts and seems to correlate to oil pressure, eg. once the rpm is above 1200 the majority of it goes away. These new diesels are so quiet now that you can hear all the weird stuff that has always made noise but was drowned out by engine rattle. New Ride: 2020 GMC 2500 CCLB DMAX. I have a 2003 Duramax and I had that ticking problem when I bought it. I put in the diesel fuel supplement in the grey bottle according mixture on the bottles directions to raise cetane level and lube injector pump and injectors. in one treatment ticking was gone and real noticeable power improvement. worked real well!!

Pop-off pressures are (don't quote me on this) around 1300-1700lbs. for most diesel engines IIRC, so they can get a little noisy, especially when it's cold out.
