Balmoral Beach is absolutely one of my favorite beaches in the world!!! It is a family friendly, protected beach without the massive waves and harsh currents. It is also less populated by surfers and their boards. There are great rock pools to explore at low tide. There is grassy, shaded park area for those who want to stay out of the sand and sun. Balmoral is formerly a station on the alignment of the Main Southern railway line, and is known variously as 'Big Hill Lower Siding' (1878), 'Bargo' (1881), and 'Balmoral' (1888). On the New South Wales Government Railways Secretariat map, the locality is identified as Balmoral Private Village. In 1919, the Picton–Mittagong Deviation opened.

Edwards Beach was named after Captain John Edwards. He was the third permanent settler in Balmoral, building a stone house near the beach, opposite Rocky Point Island and little bridge. Balmoral Beach is awesome. We love walking along the esplanade and there are (now) plenty of cafe and restaurant options. The views across to the Heads and harbour entrance are great. The beach does get busy but it's quite long and you can normally find a spot. The water is a lot calmer than some other beaches.
